The Wild West Relay

So if you recall from my April 2nd post, I was going to complete a 195 mile relay race from Fort Collins to Steamboat Springs. Mission accomplished! This past weekend, team "Twelve for the Road" conquered the Wild West Relay in 29 hours 57 minutes. Not lightning speed, but not too shabby either. Check out the pictures!

In order from left to right:

1. Running the first leg @ 6:38 min/mile. 2. Loungin' prior to my second leg. 3. 1:00 am after 8.8 miles up 7% grade (1920' gain) on Medicine Bow Pass summit - elevation 9126'. 4. Part of the gang before my final leg. 5. My final ascent. 6. After the 5.5 mile summit up Rabbit Ears pass - elevation 9426'. 7. Continental Divide 8. Several teammates goofing off on the top of Rabbit Ears Pass.

Good Times!

Wow! That's amazing. I've been working out with a friend three times a week with all of our kids (6 total) with weights/bands, etc. -- things we can do at home or a park....anyway....I've been teaching Ethan about exercise, since he sees me do it so many times per week. Whatever he might be doing, he'll say "is this exercising?" I've been telling him that anytime he's moving his muscles, he is exercising. It's funny. So all I have to say to you is "wow! that's exercising!" :)

Yeah, I'm just now recovering from the sleep deprivation - that was the hardest part, really. They do a good job of breaking up the runs so that you don't have to be a superstar to participate... all you have to do is train reasonably and be prepared to be awake, sweaty, and crammed in a car for two days straight!
